Justus Goebel, Sr. (1860 - April 11, 1919) of Covington, Kentucky was a Kentucky delegate to 1912 Democratic National Convention.[1] He was president of Lowry & Goebel.[2]

Biography

He was born on July 1, 1857 in Pennsylvania to Wilhelm Goebel and Augusta Groenkle. He had brothers, William J. Goebel and Arthur Goebel.[3]

He married Elizabeth and they had the following children: Lieutenant Justus Goebel II; Captain William Goebel, who both served in the American Expeditionary Forces; and Lillie Goebel Heusch, of Columbus, Ohio.[2]

His brother died in 1900 and in 1901 Justus was indicted for bribery.[4] In 1910 he moved to near Phoenix, Arizona for his health.[2]

He was a delegate to Democratic National Convention from Kentucky in 1912.[1] He died on April 11, 1919.[2]
